1.31.26 - NYC with the Colorado Symphony and PAX8

Last weekend was pure magic. The Colorado Symphony was in NYC for a series of sold out shows at Carnegie Hall (with Itzhak Perlman) and Radio City Music Hall (with Gregory Alan Isakov). On Saturday afternoon the trio and I were thrilled to host a Playing In Tune seminar for many of the CoSym musicians, boardmembers and donors.

We love demonstrating the key principles that make jazz ensembles tick - improvisation, flow state, decentralized innovation, trust, psychological safety - and then watching eyes light up as our audiences realize how these principles can be developed within their own organizations to optimize performance and outcomes.

It was especially gratifying in this case to share and discuss these ideas with other musicians and music lovers. To explore the commonalities and differences across platforms and to create new kinds of conversations left us all with new perspectives on how we can do what we do more effectively!

Thanks to my bandmates Sean Harkness and Michael O'brien for their always incredible contributions, CoSym CEO Daniel Wachter for helping us put it all together, The Cutting Room NYC for hosting us, and to John Street from Pax8 for his co-sponsorship and sage advice.
