The Fastest Shuffle EVER??

This is serious business, people! Behold the blistering shuffle of the great Chris Columbo - seen here playing with Louis Jordan in a rare clip from 1966.

Although you've probably never heard of Chris Columbo, his pristine shuffle playing helped Jordan establish a style called "Jump blues"  that influenced just about every important rock, pop and blues act that came out in the 1950s.

The drummers for James Brown, Ray Charles, BB King, Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly and Bill Haley ALL site the shuffle of Louis Jordan as being a major influence on their drumming.

Chris Columbo also played drums with Wild Bill Davis, who created the modern jazz organ style (years before Jimmy Smith).

And if that weren't enough, he was ALSO the father of Count Basie drumming legend Sonny Payne!

If you're interested in cracking open the amazing time period that birthed Jump Blues, Louis Jordan and Chris Columbo, there's a ton of cool info in my book The Commandments of Early Rhythm and Blues Drumming, which is still on sale at a 20% discount.
